Community Emergency Response Fund
Community Foundation has activated a Community Emergency Response Fund to support local nonprofits helping those directly impacted by COVID-19. 100% of the funds donated will support nonprofits with unexpected needs impacting our local families. The Foundation has deployed numerous grants from this program to front line services addressing the needs arising from the COVID-19 impact in the Flathead Valley.

The Kids Fund
Whitefish Community Foundation’s - Kids Fund Program – Giving Voice to Children, will work with local nonprofit organizations to provide funding that enables them to better assist our community’s vulnerable and homeless youth in an effort to move them from surviving to thriving. The three main areas of focus are to provide safety, educational opportunities, and access to a healthy life, in order to create lasting life changes.
WHA Emergency Rental Assistance Fund
The recent COVID-19 outbreak has found many of our Whitefish based workers without employment due to mandated or voluntary business closures. Whitefish’s community is particularly vulnerable with a local economy based around service and tourism industries, and significant numbers of layoffs are already underway. These workers are now struggling to make ends meet. In an effort to provide emergency relief to our local workforce, the Whitefish Chamber of Commerce, the Whitefish Housing Authority and the Whitefish Community Foundation have teamed up to create an emergency fund to provide one-time partial rent relief to Whitefish area renters. For additional information please see www.WhitefishHousing.org.
Whitefish Community Foundation - Circle of Giving
The Circle of Giving is the backbone of the Community Foundation's grant programs and the Great Fish Community Challenge. Today, the Circle has grown to be a major resource for the Foundation to help address the critical needs of our nonprofits, our schools, and our community. Circle donors support the mission of the Community Foundation with an annual gift of $5,000 or more annually.
Whitefish Community Foundation - Community Grant Program
The Community Grant Fund supports small projects and programs that benefit our community. Nonprofits benefiting Flathead County are eligible to apply once annually for funding of up to $4,000. The program was the first grant program established by the Foundation, as a way to help nonprofits with capital needs. Today it provides funding for all types of program areas. Your gift to the Community Grant Fund is used 100% to support this program.
Whitefish Community Foundation - Major Community Projects Fund
Whitefish Community Foundation's Major Community Projects Grant Program funds large capital projects that will have broad community impact. Grant awards range from $10,000 to $35,000 or more. The Foundation awards 2 to 3 annually.
Whitefish Community Foundation Endowment Fund
Whitefish Community Foundation's Permanent Endowment Fund supports the work of the Foundation through an annual distribution. It is because of our strong Permanent Endowment that the Foundation is able to sustain important grant programs that benefit local nonprofits. Donations to the Endowment Fund can be made from an IRA, appreciated securities, legacy bequests, cash gifts, and donors are able to set-up a planned gift to take advantage of the Montana Endowment Tax Credit.
